Community Guidelines

Last updated: 2026-09-06

Aquairi's community — the feed, posts, comments, direct messages and clubs — exists so aquarists can learn from each other. These rules apply to everything you publish or send in the app. By using the community features you agree to follow them.

1. Be respectful

Harassment, bullying, threats and hate speech have no place here. We do not tolerate discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.

Disagree about fishkeeping, not about people. Critique the method, keep the tone civil, and remember there is a real person behind every tank.

2. Keep it on topic and honest

The community is about aquariums: fish, invertebrates, plants, equipment and water care. Spam, repetitive self-promotion, affiliate or referral links, scams and get-rich-quick offers are not welcome.

Do not impersonate other people, organisations or brands. Share your own photos or ones you have the right to use, and be clear when you are describing your own experience rather than established fact.

3. Not allowed

The following content is removed on sight and can lead to an immediate ban:

  • sexual or pornographic content;
  • graphic violence or gore;
  • content that promotes animal cruelty or neglect, such as deliberately harming livestock;
  • illegal activity, including trade in protected or prohibited species;
  • sharing other people's personal data without their consent;
  • malware, phishing, or attempts to obtain someone's login code.

This list is not exhaustive. If something would clearly harm people or animals, assume it is not allowed.

4. Animals first

Share honest, proven care practices. Do not encourage keeping animals in tanks, groups or conditions that harm them, and do not present risky experiments as advice.

Laws on species, collection and trade differ from country to country. You are responsible for following the rules that apply where you live.

5. Reporting and blocking

If you see something that breaks these rules, you can act on it right in the app:

  1. To report a post or comment, open its overflow menu (⋯) and choose Report.
  2. To report or block a person, open their account menu and choose Report account or Block.
  3. Blocked accounts are managed under Profile → Settings → Blocked accounts.

We review reports and act on them, usually within 24 hours. Blocking hides the person's content and messages from you immediately.

6. Enforcement

Depending on the severity of a violation, we may:

  • remove the content;
  • issue a warning;
  • temporarily restrict posting, commenting or messaging;
  • permanently ban the account.

Repeated or severe violations lead to a ban. Where the law requires it, we may report illegal content to the authorities. If you believe a moderation decision was wrong, you can contact us to appeal it.

7. Contact and related documents

Questions about these guidelines and appeals against moderation decisions go to support@aquairi.app.
