Habitat

Endemic to Lake Tanganyika, inhabiting rocky shorelines. Closely related to Julidochromis; forms monogamous pairs that defend rocky territories and spawn in crevices. Juveniles show dark stripes that fade in adults, leaving a plain cream body with facial markings.
