Habitat
Endemic to Lake Malawi, occurring along the rocky eastern shoreline. A mbuna that grazes algal aufwuchs; the typical form is pale blue with finely barred markings. A maternal mouthbrooder formerly placed in the genera Pseudotropheus and Maylandia.
