Paracheilinus lineopunctatus is a Philippine flasher wrasse found on outer reef slopes exposed to strong currents.
Overview
Paracheilinus lineopunctatus is a reef-associated wrasse of the family Labridae recorded from the Philippines. In males, the first four to six dorsal soft rays extend as filaments, and coloration intensifies during courtship.

Habitat
FishBase records the species from the Western Pacific, in the Philippines. It inhabits the bases of steep outer reef slopes above rubble or coral, and rubble bottoms exposed to strong currents, at depths of 12-40 metres.

Diet
The species is carnivorous, with a FishBase trophic level of 3.4. Like other flasher wrasses it feeds on small planktonic and benthic invertebrates.
Compatibility
FishBase reports that it occurs in small mixed-sex groups with more females than males, in which males are larger and more vibrantly coloured. It is a peaceful, reef-safe species best kept away from aggressive damselfishes.
Breeding
FishBase reports the species is oviparous with distinct pairing during breeding. Males intensify their colours during courtship.
