Overview
Platax orbicularis is a species in the family Ephippidae. A magnificent, disc-shaped fish that develops into a large, graceful swimmer with elongated dorsal and anal fins as a juvenile. Juveniles are small and brown, mimicking dead leaves floating in mangroves. Adults become silvery with dark vertical bars and can reach 50 cm. Intelligent and peaceful but requires a very large system due to its adult size.

Habitat
Platax orbicularis is a disc-shaped batfish of Indo-Pacific reefs, lagoons and estuaries; juveniles mimic floating leaves. An omnivore that grows very large, it grazes algae, invertebrates and detritus and requires a tall, spacious tank.
