Habitat

Discosoma species are soft corallimorpharians ("mushroom corals") of Indo-Pacific reefs, attaching to rock in lower-light, lower-flow areas. They obtain energy from symbiotic algae and absorbed nutrients and spread readily across the reef, a hardy choice among photosynthetic corals.
