Habitat

Native to slow-flowing tributaries of the Orinoco basin and coastal rivers of the Guianas, Venezuela and Trinidad. Inhabits soft, tannin-stained water among submerged wood and leaf litter. One of the most peaceful cichlids of the geophagine group.
