How the Aquairi aquarium guides are compiled, reviewed and corrected.

What our guides are

The Aquairi library contains practical aquarium-keeping guides: species care profiles, fish diseases and their treatment, equipment categories, and tank setup and maintenance. They are written for hobbyists and are free to read.

How guides are produced

Guides are compiled from published sources — scientific publications, university extension services, species databases such as FishBase, Wikipedia (CC BY-SA, with attribution) and hobby references — with the help of automated tools, including AI language models. Where a guide cites its sources, they are listed at the end of the article.

We review and correct guides on an ongoing basis, starting with the most-read ones; not every guide has been reviewed yet. Our guides are not based on veterinary examination, laboratory testing or hands-on keeping of every species they describe.

Updates, merges and removals

The “Updated” date under a guide’s title shows its last content change. To keep the library focused, some pages are merged into a more complete guide (the old address then leads to it) or removed.

Products and brands

Guides describe product categories and their published characteristics only. We do not rate, rank, compare or recommend brands or products. Guides contain no affiliate links or paid placements.

Not a substitute for a veterinarian

Our guides are general information. If your fish are sick, consult a qualified aquatic veterinarian.
