Ammannia senegalensis is an aquatic plant in the family Lythraceae. A compact red-leaved stem plant that grows more densely than its relative A. gracilis. Habitat
Native to tropical western Africa, where it grows in seasonally flooded shallow waters and along the margins of rice paddies, swamps and slow streams. Emersed and submersed growth forms differ markedly in leaf shape and colour.
